Launch of 'Grey Power' on Christmas Day!
Dear Neighbours
Great News!!
Kim Connell, Community Services Manager, Age UK Lambeth has confirmed:
- the LASCOT mini-bus is booked with driver and passenger assistant
- who will collect 11 older people from around the neighbourhood
- to get together at Brasserie Toulouse Lautrec
- for lunch on Christmas Day!!
This has all been made possible by:
- funds raised at our Charity Auction - thanks again to Auction Coordinator Pauline Amphlett and the team,
- and too to everyone who is willing to give up their time on Christmas Day to make this all possible.
There are still a couple of spaces available.
If you know of an older person
who might be home alone on Christmas Day
and would rather join the 'Grey Power' people,
contact Kim in confidence right away!

Charity Auction 2010 raises over £2,000 for Art School hardship fund
Dear Neighbours
I am delighted to let you know that
we have today handed over a cheque for £2,055
to the City & Guilds of London School of Art
for their student hardship fund.
This money was raised from works of art
donated freely by Art School students,
and sold at our Charity Auction in September
to very generous bidders from within our community,
to fund a hardship bursary for students in exceptional need.
Very many thanks to everyone who helped to make this happen,
especially our Charity Auction Coordinator, Pauline Amphlett.

Secret Santa's cheque is on its way!
Dear Neighbours
Thanks to your wonderful generosity,
we have once again raised £4,000 for Secret Santa 2010,
ensuring that 100 needy young families in our community
will receive £40 supermarket vouchers anonymously this Christmas.
These funds are made up of:

We are still waiting on outstanding payments for successful Charity Auction bids.
As soon as these are received,

- proceeds from our Charity Auction in September.

“Knowing local people care at Christmas is as important to the recipients as the gifts themselves.”
'Secret Santa' donations are beginning to land on the doorstep!
Many from individuals who prefer to remain anonymous,
and also from our commercial neighbours.
As soon as we have reached our 'Secret Santa' target
to provide shopping vouchers for 100 local needy young families (£4,000),
we can focus on our 'Grey Power' initiative
to provide a mini-bus and meal (with a funny hat and cracker!)
for isolated elderly in Kennington
who might otherwise be home alone on Christmas Day.
Big thanks especially to The Dog House PHwho have donated twelve 'Secret Santa' parcels -
a whopping £480!

Lollard Street Adventure Playground : Family Fun Day : Tuesday 24th August
Dear Friends,
Lollard Street Adventure Playground is holding a Family Fun Day
on Tuesday 24th August 12.30-4.30pm
to celebrate the work of this great community resource for local children.
Volunteers are needed to help set up beforehand
and to supervise stalls / activities during the event.
If you could offer your services, in any way
(setting up stalls, supervising the bouncy castle, assisting with the barbeque etc.)
please come to the playground at 10.00am on Tuesday 24th Aug.
We do not expect you stay all day although you are welcome to do so.
Any time you can spare would be warmly appreciated.
Hope to see you there.
